NURS 2203 - Mental Health Nursing Credit Hours: 4 Lecture/Lab Hours: 3 hours class, 3 hours lab per week This course is a study of mental health and common mental illnesses as they affect adults, children and families. Selected clinical experiences provide the student with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, empathy, and skills to provide safe patient-centered care in the psychiatric setting. The student may also participate in the interdisciplinary team meetings. This course stresses the importance of developing self-awareness, improving communication skills, and establishing inter-personal relationships.
