Opportunities for health information technology professionals are diverse within healthcare systems, regulatory agencies and biotechnology organizations that require specialized positions in research, health information management, and applications of medical informatics within a compliant and safe environment. The MHCM, Health Informatics concentration provides students with an expanded focus and acquisition of skills in health informatics, including protected health information access, management, clinical decision support, cybersecurity, applications, portability of information with external providers, data retrieval systems and quality outcome analysis. This concentration also examines legal, ethical, and financial issues in health informatics including business continuity and strategic IT considerations.
