FOLK 2200 - Introduction to Folklore Credit Hours: 3 This course is an introduction to conceptual foundations in folklore, such as its social base, tradition, folklore and cultural history, folklore as projection, genre, function, structure, text and context, through a historical and philosophical survey of approaches to folklore topics. Emphasis will be placed on the Appalachian cultural perspective. A field study lab of one hour will accompany this course.
