NURS 2301 - Nursing Care Across the Lifespan II


Credit Hours: 7
Lecture/Lab Hours: 5 hours didactic, 4 hours lab per week
This course is a continuation of Nursing Care Across the Lifespan I and provides LPN to ASN students the opportunity to build on prior knowledge. The focus is on common health problems of patients across the lifespan, with an emphasis on the nursing process, patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality Improvement, and safety. Nursing care of patients with disorders of hematologic, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, musculoskeletal, and neurological systems is also presented including health promotion and maintenance. In addition, the care of the patient with cancer and/or end-of-life issues is presented. Selected laboratory experiences in caring for patients in the hospital and community, as well as high-fidelity simulations will enable the LPN to ASN student to acquire the knowledge and skills to meet the patient’s needs by delegating and implementing effective patient care.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the LPN to ASN program and NURS 1200 .
Corequisite(s): BIOL 2205  may be taken concurrently.
